A place of enormous charm, with welcoming helpful staff and a perfect restoration of an old building. I cannot recommend it enough!

The hotel is located in the Medina. There are eateries nearby. The hotel itself is very charming. The rooms are clean and the staff are extremely friendly. One inconvenient aspect of the hotel is that you can't open the front door yourself. So, every time you go in or out, you have rely on someone to open the door for you to the hotel itself.

Great location if you want to explore the Medina. Furniture and rooms are a bit dated but it’s part of the charm. Staff were friendly at check in.
WiFi only worked near the door of my room.

What an extraordinary place. Perfect location on the edge of the Medina. Beautifully restored, peaceful, comfortable...words cannot do it justice. I stayed 10 days in October 2025 and did not want to leave. The experience is as far as possible from what you'd find in a cookie-cutter big corporate hotel, People who look for things to complain about might find one or two quirks, for example my bathroom shower was a bit tight, and since it is a very old building, none of the architectural lines are straight...and this is what I love about it! The antique tiles, the curated museum quality artworks and collectibles, the special juices in the morning, the smiles of every staff person, the sense of history and community...lovely! It's perfect for people who love slow travel, to drink in a place, to experience a journey rather than a simple vacation. I loved the nooks and crannies to hang out and read or listen to the call to prayer. My room was a haven, spacious and comfortable with a sitting area, a study area and a raised bed in a glamorous nook. Thank you, Dali, Rim and all the staff!

Personnel extrêmement cordial et très serviable. Le lieu est très proche du c?ur de la cité, les différents souks sont très proche. D'ici tout peut être fait à pied. Après quelques remarques, la chambre était bien mais la porte ne ferme pas très bien. Salle de bain mérite un sérieux rafra?chissement surtout pour baignoire lavabo et wc. Décoration traditionnelle très jolie. Le ménage et le lit sont faits tous les jours. Malheureusement il n'y a pas de parking pour un véhicule. Si on a de la chance on peut se garer sur la petite place car des maisons sont condamnées sinon cet parking payant à 5 mn. Un autre point et pas des moindres la conduite dans la médina..... c'est du sport, ?a donne des sueurs froides et de grands moments de solitude...... A méditer avant de réserver.

This property has a very accommodating host and it is exceptionally clean. Everyone working here is extremely helpful and kind. Dar Ben Gacem is beautiful, with rooftop views and amazing tile and architecture throughout. There are many areas to relax and enjoy the ambience. The breakfast has delicious food and an outstanding chef. If you need anything, they are always there to help. Another way they accommodate guest is by speaking English, Arabic and French.
I highly recommend this establishment, we will most definitely return.
